UPLAND, Ind. – The RV Taylor Trojans (2-0-2) took 16 shots compared to Northwestern Ohio's five, but Wednesday afternoon's match ended in a tie for the second consecutive game.
The story was strikingly similar to Taylor's last time out, when Corban scored easily in the first half to take a 1-0 lead. Tonight, Janne Esther Frauenpreiss of the Racers struck first late in the opening period on a breakaway goal.
Though UNOH (2-0-1) took a 1-0 lead into the break, much of the first half was a defensive struggle, with both teams failing to generate good looks despite TU's seven shots (four on goal).
As the match progressed, the shots started coming more frequently and at a higher quality for the Trojans as they dominated possession. Much like Saturday's match, Taylor's lone goal came midway through the second half, when Chloe Sena lofted a perfect corner kick to Claire Massey whose header found the back of the net for her seventh career goal. The assist for Sena was her second of the season.
The shots advantage continued to go to TU throughout the rest of the match, which finished with eight shots on goal against the Racers' three.
Hannah Brackenbury collected another two saves as she remains unbeaten on the year (2-0-2). Mireia Queralt, who – just like in Saturday's match – came on in relief of UNO's starting keeper, recorded her first decision of the season (0-0-1).
The Trojans have over a week off before they head out to Grand Rapids, Mich., to start a three-game road trip on Sept. 9 at Cornerstone (0-1-0) at 4 p.m.
