TU Women’s Soccer Cracks Top-25 in Latest NAIA Poll
NAIA Women's Soccer Top-25 Rating No. 8
UPLAND, Ind. – The NAIA released its eighth Women's Soccer Coaches' Top-25 Rating of the season on Wednesday, in which Taylor (8-3-4, 3-2-2 CL) cracked the top 25, nabbing the last official spot.
No. 25 Taylor is back in the top-25 ratings for the first time since the week of Oct. 2-8, 2018, when the team held an 8-1-2 record.
Despite a pair of losses on Wednesday, Oct. 18 and Saturday, Oct. 21, TU played very competitively versus top-10 competition in Indiana Wesleyan (12-1-3, 6-0-1 CL) and Spring Arbor (13-0-1, 6-0-1), respectively. The Trojans outshot the Wildcats 23-9 at Turner Stadium on Wednesday, and they played Spring Arbor nearly even in the second half of Saturday's 3-1 defeat. IWU and SAU came in at No. 7 and No. 2 in the current poll, while No. 11 Marian rounds out the other CL schools in the top 25.
TU leads the Crossroads League in shots per game with 23.5, an average that ranks fourth in the nation. Audrey Grimm leads the Trojans with 3.5 shots per game, which is good for third in the CL. Chloe Sena is atop the team's high-powered attack with eight goals and 18 total points, while Leah McQuade and Grimm join her in double-digit points with 12 each.
The 25th-ranked Trojans look to solidify their spot in the top 25 and move up in the CL standings with their two remaining regular season matches, beginning Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Bethel (8-5-1, 4-3-0). TU, currently tied-fifth in the CL, could move as high as third in the standings by season's end, and it would surpass BU (fourth in the CL) with a road victory Wednesday.
