PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Taylor scored three second-half goals to run away with a commanding 5-1 victory on the road against Trinity Christian to complete its non-league part of the schedule on Saturday afternoon.
The Trojans struck early as Audrey Grimm capitalized on a pass from Sydney Thompson for her fourth goal of the season.
The Trolls (2-1-4) notched the score at one less than ten minutes later and put the pressure on during the first half, firing five shots, four of which were on target.
As the half came close, TU had one of its four first-half corner kicks, and Brooke Cimini delivered an inch-perfect pass to Campbell Massey, who headed home for her second goal of the season. The goal gave Taylor a slim 2-1 advantage heading into the break.
The Trojans came out of the locker room and quickly found the back of the net to nab a 3-1 lead. Grimm fired a shot that was saved, but the rebound was collected by Morgan Fletemeyer, who scored for the second straight match for TU.
Sydney Reddy notched her fourth goal of the year soon thereafter, as she has become a big part of a deep bench for the Trojan frontline this season. Her namesake, Thompson, added a goal to her first-half assist in the final ten minutes to cap the scoring and make sure the squad had an enjoyable bus ride back to Upland, Indiana.
After a terrific week on the pitch, TU has six players with at least six goals this year, three of which have tallied nine or more points through seven matches.
Taylor (3-2-2) has some time off before beginning Crossroads League play with a matchup against Saint Francis (5-0-2) on Wednesday, September 25, inside Turner Stadium, with kick-off set for 7:00 pm.
