UPLAND, Ind. – A battle between two of the top Crossroads League teams delivered a physical, balanced match in which RV Taylor (7-5-2, 4-3-0 CL) fell 1-0 against No. 8 Spring Arbor on Saturday night.
Both goalies were terrific as Brianna Rawlings produced eight saves against the Cougars. Rawlings was vital to keeping the match scoreless in the opening half, with five of her saves in the first half.
Neither team found the back of the net before the break, with Audrey Grimm forcing a pair of saves and Brook Cimini firing a pair of shots toward the net from free kicks.
Taylor's best chance of the contest came right after the restart, with Grimm making a terrific run down the wing before crossing into the box, where Lauren Collins forced a save with a shot from inside the six-yard box.
Soon after though, the Cougars (11-3-0, 6-1-0 CL) capitalized on a turn from their leading scorer and scored the lone goal of the match.
The home team continued to push forward in search of an equalizer with a multitude of corners and free kicks from around the box but could not find a finishing touch in a frustrating loss.
Taylor completes its regular-season home slate on Saturday, October 26th, with a Senior Day matchup against Bethel (6-4-5, 0-3-4 CL). Senior Day festivities will take place during halftime, as the match is set to kick off at 7:00 pm.
