UPLAND, Ind. – Fresh off the best season-opening performance and the best overall performance in the first two outings of the 2025 season, the Taylor competitive cheer team soared up the national rankings to a program-best sixth in the NAIA.
Taylor opened its fifth year with a score of 81.63 at the Indiana Wesleyan Wildcat Weekend on January 17 for the best season-opening score in program history.
Two weeks later, the Trojans took the mats again to compete in the Missouri Baptist Spartan Showcase on February 1. Taylor made history once again, shattering its program record with a score of 89.17.
With the two record-setting performances to open the season, Taylor climbed to No. 2 in the NAIA Cheer ARC Region 2 ratings and bolted to No. 6 in the NAIA scoring average with a mark of 85.40.
TU's average of 85.40 through two events puts the Trojans tops among all Crossroads League programs and just .57 points away from a top-five average in the NAIA.
No. 6 Taylor will look to continue its strong start when it competes in the Florida Face-Off in Kissimmee, Florida on February 15.
