TU Lacrosse Picks Up Two Academic All-District Awards
UPLAND, Ind. – The Taylor men's lacrosse program picked up two College Sports Communicators NAIA At-Large Academic All-District honors recently, with Reid Gerig and Caleb Williams representing the Trojans on the list.
Gerig earned the CSC Academic All-District distinction in his first year of eligibility after posting a cumulative grade-point average of 3.80 in marketing and management. The sophomore led Taylor this season with 26 goals, averaging 2.0 scores per outing for the Trojans.
Williams also was honored as a CSC Academic All-District standout for the first time with a GPA of 3.66 in global studies. The junior posted his finest season with TU, scoring 21 goals and leading the squad with six man-up strikes.
The honors for Gerig and Williams boost Taylor's number of CSC Academic All-District selections for the 2022-2023 year to 48.
The CSC Academic All-District distinction is designed to recognize student-athletes for outstanding achievements in the classroom and on the field. To receive the honor, an athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher on a 4.0 scale, must have reached sophomore status academically with at least one full year at their current institution, and must have participated in over half of the team's competitions as a key contributor during the current season.
Each University is limited to five individuals for each of the men's and women's CSC NAIA At-Large Academic All-District Teams and student-athletes are nominated for the honor by their own Sports Information Department.
Gerig and Williams will advance to the ballot for CSC Academic All-American honors, which will be voted on by members of the CSC before being announced on June 21.
