HARDEEVILLE, Ga. – A late flurry was not enough for Taylor in an 8-6 loss at SCAD Savannah on Saturday, as the Trojans closed their January trip with the narrow setback.
Five different Trojans found the back of the next in the defensive struggle, with Carter Prieditis being the lone TU player to record multiple goals. Aidan Craig dished out five assists, while Wyatt Marshall and Will Saxby led the team with six shots each.
On the defensive side of the field, Carlton Best posted three ground balls and two caused turnovers, and Ben Harrell racked up 18 saves between the posts.
Back-to-back goals from Reid Gerig and Prieditis opened an early 2-1 lead for Taylor, but the host SCAD Savannah (1-0) squad countered with the day's next five scores to take a 6-2 cushion midway through the third.
A man-up strike from Prieditis stopped the skid and three-straight tallies from Best, Marshall and Saxby closed Taylor to within a single goal with nearly 11 minutes remaining.
Taylor could not finish the comeback however, as SCAD Savannah got an insurance tally before both defenses dominated the final stretch of action.
TU was out-shot by 20 in the contest and saw the hosts collect 16 more ground balls, while taking 11-of-16 faceoffs.
Taylor (0-2) will continue its early season schedule on February 17, with a 3:00 pm clash at No. 10 Saint Ambrose (0-0).
