
Burns, Harber Pace TU Men at Midwest Classic
MARION, Ind. – Competing in its final outing before hosting the 2025 Crossroads League Championships, the Taylor men's indoor track and field squad turned in a string of strong finishes on Saturday at the Midwest Classic at Indiana Wesleyan.
Nathan Burns and Luke Harber led the charge, with each scoring individual victories while provisionally qualifying for NAIA Nationals in their respective events. Burns did so in the 3,000-meters with a finish of 8:29.82 and Harber secured the accomplishment in the 5,000-meters.
TU's third win of the afternoon came in the 4x400-meter relay, with Bradley Braxton, Braden Bixler, Carter Newman and Bennett Hill taking first with a time of 3:28.48.
Burns' victory in the 3,000-meters highlighted the best event of the meet for the Trojans, with Ryan Hanak finishing just behind in second at 8:33.59 and the tandem of Zach McWatters and Jordan Burden ending in fourth and fifth.
Braxton added to his 4x400 showing with a runner-up finish and time of 51:15 in the 400-meters, while Joel Mumaw also scored a second-place showing by completing the mile in 4:18.36.
Taylor showed well in the 200-meters with Wade Jones and Bixler taking third and fourth, while Spencer Stout took fifth in the 60-meter hurdles.
In the field events, Lyndon Miller paced the team with top-five showings in the high jump and triple jump. Josh Forbes also took a third-place finish with a height of 4.60 meters in the pole vault.
TU will return to action on February 14 and 15 when it hosts the CL Championships.
