
TU Women Open Strong at High Profile Roadrunner Invitational
DALTON, Ga. – Playing amongst a field with 10-of-14 teams ranked inside the NAIA's Top-25, the No. 19 Taylor women's golf team positioned itself in fourth place after the opening day of the Roadrunner Invitational on Monday.
The Trojans shot a team score of 312 at the Dalton Golf and Country Club, finishing the opening round ahead of the No. 5, 9, 13, 14, 18 and 20-ranked teams in the nation and trailing only the No. 3, 4 and 15-ranked teams.
Shayne Lim, Margarita Garrido and Eleanor Schuitema paced the lineup with stellar play throughout the first day. Lim fired an opening round score of 75 to finish in seventh place and just one stroke back of the top-three players. Garrido finished one shot back of Lim in ninth, with Schuitema shooting a 78 to give Taylor a trio of finishers inside the top-20 on the tourney's leaderboard.
No. 19 Taylor will look to continue its strong play on Tuesday, when it plays the final 36 holes.
