
Taylor Continues Outdoor Campaign with Strong Distance Running
ST. LOUIS – The Taylor men sent several runners to the WashU Distance Carnival on Thursday in Saint Louis, Missouri, and posted competitive times amongst a large field of athletes.
Top distance runners Luke Harber and Ryan Hanak competed in the 10,000-meters, with Harber grabbing the program's top time in the outdoor event since 2022.
Harber raced to a time of 31:12.68 to place 65th of 175 finishers, while Hanak finished 96th at 32:01.95.
The Trojans were also represented well in the 5,000-meters with six competitors, led by Joel Mumaw's 15:11.62 to take 81st of 346.
Jared Stayte was not far off with his time of 15:16.96 to stay within the top 100. Jordan Burden finished just behind at 101st overall, closing in 15:21.64.
Emory Thrills in the Hills
TU also got the Emory Thrills in the Hills underway on Friday in Atlanta, Georgia.
Freshman Spencer Stout recorded a top-10 performance in the 400-meter hurdles, taking seventh of 29 with his time of 56.91 seconds. Classmate Wade Jones posted the Trojans' top mark in the 200-meters, crossing in 22.06 to place 16th of 75 sprinters overall.
Max Lambert took 20th in the discus throw, posting TU's top mark in two seasons with a distance of 35.01 meters.
On Saturday, Taylor wrapped up at Emory with Carter Newman taking 19th in the long jump with a mark of 6.25 meters and Seth Gormley finishing 27th with a distance of 10.40 meters in the discus throw.
The Trojans also took part in a 4x100-meter relay that featured nine teams, as Wade Jones, Newman, Quentauris Jones and Stout posted a time of 43.68 seconds to take seventh.
TU is slated to return to action on April 5 for the Huntsman Family Invite in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
