
Hanak Hits NAIA B Standard in Outdoor Opener
MARION, Ind. – The Taylor men's track and field team got its outdoor season underway Friday afternoon at Indiana Wesleyan's Polar Bear Invite, sending athletes to compete in two events on day one of the invitational.
TU was well-represented in the 5k, highlighted by Ryan Hanak's runner-up finish with an NAIA B Standard time of 14:57.28.
The 5k field totaled 75 runners, and Luke Harber joined the strong showing for TU with his fifth-place time of 15:09.16. Nathan Meister and Zach McWatters also placed well for the Trojans at 22nd and 23rd, respectively, both crossing the finish line in sub-16 minutes.
Outside of the 5k, Taylor saw Gabriel Osborn compete in the javelin throw. The junior reached a mark of 35.28 meters to take 25th of 39.
A larger contingent of Trojans are set to compete Saturday for day two of the Polar Bear Invite. Events begin at 11 a.m.
