FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Taylor suffered two more defeats at the hands of Saint Francis on Thursday afternoon, falling 5-0 and 7-3 in the final regular season matchups between the two squads.
Brooke Sanchez launched her first collegiate home run in the final inning of the day, after the offense had sputtered throughout the first 13 innings of action.
The Trojan offense continued to be baffled by the Cougars pitchers, being shutout in the opener before getting three late runs in game two.
Taylor (18-24, 10-18 CL) trailed 3-0 before getting on the board in game two, with Morgan Back providing a pinch-hit RBI single to plate pinch-runner Chelsea Bowland.
Saint Francis (16-22, 10-18 CL) extended the lead to 7-1 by the seventh inning when Sanchez launched her home run, which was a two-run shot that also plated Maddie Schultz, who had a pinch-hit single to get on base.
Taylor is set to continue Crossroads League action on the road against Huntington (16-22, 12-16 CL) on Saturday, April 22, with first pitch set for 1:00 pm.
