Women's Track and Field Wraps Up Regular Season
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Taylor women's track and field team wrapped up the regular season on Friday at the Dr. Keeler Track & Field Invitational hosted by North Central College.
Taylor junior Jane Hawks broke a 30-year-old school record in the 800-meter en route to a 12th place finish in the loaded race. Hawks clocked a time of 2:16.67 for the record-setting performance. TU's Sarina Oleson also ran well in the race, finishing with a time of 2:18.74 to finish in 19th place.
The Trojans 4x100 relay team of Tara Monfredi, Princess Sakeuh, Courtney Thompson, and Kayla Liefeld posted a time of 47.87, hitting the NAIA A standard en route to a third place finish.
Junior Haley White continued her fantastic run in the javelin with a third place finish after a toss of 37.36 meters while freshman Alex Berends finished third in the steeplechase with a time of 10:54.38. Senior Elaine Schmeltz added an 11th place finish in the steeplechase with a time of 11:20.05.
Liefeld and Sakeuh finished seventh and ninth, respectively, in the 100-meter dash.
The meet marked the final regular-season meet as the Trojans will now turn their attention to the NAIA National Championships slated for May 21-23 in Gulf Shores, Ala.
