Fuhrmann Collects 1,000th Career Point in CL Loss
UPLAND, Ind. – Kaden Fuhrmann scored his 1,000th point in his Taylor career in the third minute on a layup in Taylor's 97-75 defeat against Saint Francis.
Fuhrmann quickly moved past the milestone, as he scored nine for the third consecutive contest. The junior has been a consistent scorer, averaging double-digits the past three seasons for TU.
Caleb Hodgson was dynamic on offense, with 25 points on 13 shots. The transfer splashed home three triples and hit both of his free throws as he scored at all three levels and was the go-to guy throughout the game. Hodgson added seven boards and two blocks, as his size was disruptive to the Cougars. Gavin Yoon and Jackson Ullom each nailed a trio of triples, with Yoon notching 13 points and four rebounds.
Taylor scored the first two field goals of the game on layups and led the Cougars 9-6 early in the first half. The lead quickly disappeared, and Saint Francis (6-2, 1-0 CL) outscored TU 28-11 to take a 52-30 halftime lead.
The Trojans (4-4, 0-1 CL) were able to win the rebounding battle 40-36, with Anton Webb grabbing 13 boards. Those rebounds led to 19 second-chance points compared to just 6 for the Cougars.
Saint Francis took advantage of every opportunity to run, notching 16 fast-break points and drawing 18 fouls throughout the contest, which led to 21 free throws. TU made every trip to the charity stripe count but unfortunately had only five attempts.
Taylor continues Crossroads League play on Tuesday, November 21, against Mount Vernon Nazarene (4-1, 0-1 CL) on the road, with tip-off scheduled for 7:00 pm.
