
Fuhrmann Moves Up Scoring Charts in CL Defeat Against No. 10 Bethel
MISHAWAKA, Ind. – Taylor concluded its regular season on Saturday with a loss to No. 10 Bethel (21-7, 14-4 CL), 80-67, after fading down the stretch in a tight contest.
Kaden Fuhrmann led a furious second-half surge to begin the second half for Taylor, scoring all 14 of his points after the break and hitting a quartet of three-pointers. Fuhrmann moved in 15th on Taylor's all-time scoring list with 1,672 points in his TU career and sits five shy of Greg Jones in 14th.
Taylor took a brief lead in the second stanza with an 8-2 run to grab its largest lead of the afternoon at 44-41. Bethel quickly hit back with a 10-3 run and never trailed again in the contest.
The Trojans splashed in ten triples throughout the contest for a season total of 280, which is the second-most in a single season in program history, trailing only the 314 made in the 2016-17 year.
Kobe Funderburk helped keep Taylor close in the first half, pouring in all 11 of his points as the Trojans defense held Bethel to 32 points and trailed by just four at the break.
Chaz Harvey lived at the charity stripe, hitting seven free throws en route to 11 points. Harvey continued his terrific passing this year with a team-high four assists. A duo of big men also ended in double figures, with Anton Webb and Pete Combs each scoring 10. Webb led the squad with eight boards and three blocks, and Combs grabbed five rebounds and dished out three assists.
Turnovers plagued the Trojans, committing eight or more in each half for 17 total, leading to 23 points for the Pilots. Taylor held a slim advantage at the free-throw line but hit just 42.3 percent from the field compared to 52.4 percent for the home team.
The Trojans (14-14, 7-11 CL) travel back to Mishawaka for a matchup against No. 10 Bethel on Tuesday, February 25, in the Crossroads League Tournament Quarterfinals, with a tip-off time yet to be announced.
