SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Taylor was held to a season-low 47 points on Saturday afternoon as Crossroads League play resumed, resulting in a 64-47 defeat on the road against RV Spring Arbor.
The Trojans shot under 31 percent, which resulted in the season-low scoring effort, 17 points less than the previous low mark of 64.
Chaz Harvey hit a three to open the contest as Taylor (9-6, 2-3 CL) led for the opening three minutes until a 7-0 run by the Cougars put them in the lead.
TU briefly knotted the game at nine, but Spring Arbor's defense shut down the Trojans and built a double-digit advantage late in the first half, and the game was out of reach from there on out.
Nate Paarlberg was a bright spot in the contest for Taylor, knocking down five triples en route to a team-leading 17 points. The junior forward is shooting over 40 percent from long distance and over 50 percent from the field in a breakout season.
The Trojans' defense was solid in holding Spring Arbor (12-3, 4-1 CL) under 42 percent from the field but saw the Cougars hit 16 of 19 attempts from the charity stripe in the defeat.
Taylor looks to bounce back with a matchup against cross-county rival No. 22 Indiana Wesleyan (11-3, 1-3 CL) on deck, set for Wednesday, January 8, with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 inside Odle Arena.
