
Trojans’ Hot Start Fades in Crossroads League Defeat
UPLAND, Ind. – The Trojans started brightly against RV Marian but were unable to keep pace with the hot-shooting Knights in a 96-67 defeat on Saturday afternoon.
Taylor came out aggressively and saw four players score a trio of points for an early 12-8 advantage. The scoring continued, and throughout the first six minutes of action, Taylor and Marian combined for 39 points as the Trojans had a slim 20-19 advantage.
The Knights' offense continued to thrive and went on a 20-2 run for a commanding 39-22 lead, which led to a 50-33 scoreline at halftime.
The first minute after the break gave the TU faithful hope as the Trojans put up four quick points while the Knights missed their first two shots.
Marian (7-2, 1-2 CL) quickly righted the ship with an 11-2 run, which all but sealed the outcome.
Anton Webb had an impressive outing from the charity stripe, knocking down his first ten attempts on the way to 18 points, while he added eight rebounds. Kaden Fuhrmann continued his terrific fourth season at Taylor with an efficient 15 points on ten shots.
Julian Mitchell saw his first action in his career and tallied an assist, while John McLimore notched his first career points with a layup.
Taylor (4-6, 0-3 CL) takes the court next Friday, December 8, against Great Lakes Christian (2-6) for the 26th Annual Ivanhoe's Silent Night game, with tip-off scheduled for 6:00 pm.
