
Men’s Basketball Secures Four CSC Academic All-District Awards

UPLAND, Ind. – The Taylor men's basketball team picked up the maximum amount of four CSC Academic All-District Awards as Jackson Ullom, Nate Paarlberg, Kobe Funderburk, and Pete Combs all received the distinction.
Ullom received the award for the second time in his TU career after excelling with a 3.76 GPA in his politics and law courseload. The junior guard had a terrific shooting season on the court, splashing in a career-best 45.4 percent of his three-point attempts to average 7.9 points per game and dished out 2.7 assists per contest while starting every game.
Paarlberg earned the award for the first time as he had a 3.82 GPA in his computer science studies. The Franklin, Ohio native enjoyed his best season on the court, starting all 29 games and averaging 8.5 points and 2.7 rebounds per game while shooting 43.1 percent from beyond the arc.
Funderburk, a graduate transfer earning his Master's in Leadership, posted a 3.93 GPA in his courses at Taylor. Funderburk came off the bench to average 6.8 points and 1.3 rebounds while shooting 37.9 percent from three-point land. The Charlotte, North Carolina native excelled at the charity stripe hitting 92.9 percent on free throws in his lone season in purple and gray.
Combs came off the bench in his sophomore season and averaged 7.0 points and 2.9 rebounds per contest. An efficient post player, Combs shot 60.6 percent from the field and earned a 3.67 GPA as a finance major.
CSC Academic All-District honorees are nominated by their respective institution's sports information department for athletes exceeding high standards both on the court and in the classroom.
To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must have achieved sophomore status academically, maintain a GPA of 3.50 or higher and either play in a minimum of 90 percent, or start in 66 percent, of his team's games throughout the season.
