Helmuth Qualifies for Finals at NAIA Nationals

BROOKINGS, S.D. – The Taylor men's track and field team competed in two events on the first day of the NAIA Indoor National Championships.

In the first event on the track, Alex Helmuth raced to a time of 15:07.91 in the men's 5,000-meter prelims. Helmuth placed sixth in his heat and advanced to finals on Saturday with the No. 11 seed.

Derek Van Prooyen, Isaac Cornfield, Connor White and Daniel Gerber competed in the distance medley relay. The foursome logged a time of 10:40.02 and did not advance to finals on Saturday. The squad placed 13th overall.

TU will compete in seven events on Friday, with Liam Hesting starting the action for the Trojans at 1:00 pm (ET) in the weight throw, followed by Daniel Gerber in the mile prelims at 1:20.
