
Taylor Men’s Track and Field Collects Three Wins at Home Invite

UPLAND, Ind. – Three event wins and one NAIA B standard performance highlighted the TU men's home meet on April 6 at the George Glass Invitational.
Nate Conkel won the 800 meters, crossing the finish line with a time of 1:53.63. He was joined in the top-10 out of 43 true competitors by teammates Nathan Brainer and James Bates, who both had sub-two-minute times of 1:55.85 and 1:59.98, respectively.
A similar showing team-wise in the 1,500 meters saw Joel Mumaw take home first place in one of two sub-four minute times of the race. Mumaw crossed in 3:59.16, with teammates Ben Eiffert and Bryce Noble joining him in the top-10 of the 46 total finishers.
Nathan Burns rounded out the first-place performances for Taylor, as he took home his second straight win in the 5,000 meters by clocking a 14:47.30. Ryan Hanak crossed the finish line in third (14:57.09) with Luke Harber a spot behind (14:57.97), and Zach McKowen landed amongst the top-10 in the event with his 15:34.45 finish.
In the pole vault, Josh Forbes hit the NAIA B standard as he cleared 4.70 meters to grab second place out of 11 true competitors.
The Trojans had four top-10 finishes in the 400 meters, led by Bradley Braxton's fourth-place time of 50.72 seconds in the 23-man field. Caleb Kroll, Cole Whitehead and Lextin Willis all crossed in sub-53.0 seconds in their top-10 efforts.
Jacob Parker notched a fourth-place finish out of 10 in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.49 seconds, while Braden Bixler had Taylor's lone time under one minute in the 400 meter hurdles with his fifth-place effort of 57.58 seconds.
Max Lambert brought home TU's top marks across the board in the discus, hammer and javelin throws, headlined by his ninth-place javelin mark of 38.64 meters.
The Trojans compete next at the two-day We Fly Track and Field Challenge at Ball State, beginning on Friday, April 12.
