Bio
The 2024-2025 campaign is the sixth for Gerry Conway as an assistant coach for the Taylor track and field program. Conway specializes in the pole vault and serves as the vault coach for the Trojans.
There have been 12 instances in which an athlete has qualified for the NAIA indoor and outdoor championships in pole vaulting at Taylor under Conway’s tutelage, including two athletes who combined to earn three NAIA All-American honors during the 2023-2024 season (two indoor, one outdoor).
Conway joined TU with over 20 years of high school coaching experience. At Oak Hill High, he coached multiple athletes to become sectional champions and regional qualifiers. Conway also coached a two-time Indiana State qualifier. Conway is a former high school vaulter from Oak Hill High and a current Masters vaulter.
Previously, Conway served as a Master Navigator in the United States Air Force.
Conway earned a B.S. in finance from Ball State University.
Conway and his wife, Melinda, have three daughters, Cassie, Lexie and Allie. They have four grandchildren, Ethan, Kathryn, Norah and William. Their youngest daughter, Allie, graduated from Taylor in 2016.
