Burden Tops Field in Mile at Indoor Opener
FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Taylor began the bulk of its indoor track schedule with a meet at Indiana Tech on Friday, with Kaitlin Burden taking the top performance with a win in the mile. The victory was one of nine top-five individual efforts on the day for the Trojans.
Elayna Kitt followed Burden with a third-place finish in the mile, with TU also scoring a pair of top-five finishes in the 800 and pole vault to highlight the contest.
In the 800, Olivia Jeanette and Sam Patterson took third and fourth, while Mai Zimmerman and Janna Teusch tying for second in the pole vault.
Nadia Rhoades also had a strong meet with a fourth in the triple jump and a sixth in the high jump.
Taylor's other top showings came with a third-place from Jessie McCoy in the 3,000 and a fifth from Emily Johnson in the 600.
A limited number of athletes will compete again on Saturday, January 20, at the Butler Invitational.
