Trojans Add Three Titles, End Second at CL Championships
Crossroads League Championships Central
INDIANAPOLIS – The Taylor women's indoor track and field program scored in 10-of-13 events on Saturday, claiming three individual event league championships and hitting five NAIA-standard marks.
Despite claiming All-Crossroads League honors in eight-of-13 events on the second day of the CL Championships, TU could not close the gap on Marian and finished in second place with 140 points. Taylor's mark trailed only the 195 of league-champion MU for the team title.
The Trojans highlighted their afternoon with individual championships from Patience Sakeuh in the 60-hurdles, Noel VanderWall in the mile and Ashley Hall in the 400. The strong performances in the running events were a trend, as TU scored 10-or-more points in the 60-hurdles, 60, 200, 400 and mile.
The highest point total for Taylor came in an event it did not win, as D'Arjha Davis, Hall and Sakeuh all finished inside the top-seven of the 200 for 16 points, with Davis and Hall taking second and third.
Sakeuh stayed busy, with a win and A-standard in the 60-hurdles and a fifth-place showing in the 60-meters, while Hall won the 400 with a B-standard, took fourth in the 60 and teamed with Nicole Braz Domene, Adrienne McKean and Addie Draper to take third in the 4x400-relay.
Other top performances came from Abby Mays with a second in the 1,000 and Ahna Neideck with a third in the 3,000. Mays and Neideck each hit A-standards with their times.
Kiana Siefert posted a pair of top-five efforts by ending fourth in the 60-hurdles and fifth in the triple jump and the pole vault tandem of Janna Teusch and Mai Zimmerman took sixth and seventh.
Taylor will conclude its indoor campaign at NAIA Nationals in Brookings, South Dakota from February 29 through March 2.
