UPLAND, Ind. – The Crossroads League has announced the 2022 Competitive Cheer All-League awards, of which Taylor tumbler J. Michael Pierce II was named a recipient.
Pierce's award marks the first postseason All-League honor in program-history for the Taylor cheer team.
When asked what sets Pierce apart from other tumblers, coach, Hannah Kirby, remarked that "Michael generates an insane amount of power and height in his tumbling."
And that insane power put Pierce in a place to own the most difficult tumbling of anyone on the team this season. Kirby went on to add that the junior tumbler's most impressive pass occurred at the beginning of Taylor's routine, when he executed four standing backhand springs through to a full twisting layout, a move that no doubt requires a significant amount of power.
Kirby is hopeful for the Trojans, as they prepare for their third varsity season in 2023 when Pierce returns to the mat for his senior season.
