Pierce Makes History as TU's First Competitive Cheer All-American
KANSAS CITY – The 2022-2023 NAIA Competitive Cheer All-Americans were announced recently, with J. Michael Pierce II becoming the first member of the young third-year Taylor program to receive NAIA All-American honors.
Pierce was one of 39 student-athletes from the NAIA to earn All-American distinction, being recognized as an Honorable Mention All-American. The top honor comes on the heels of Pierce earning First-Team All-Crossroads League recognition for his second-straight all-league accolade.
The awards continue to make history for the Taylor competitive cheer program, as Pierce is now the first student-athlete in program history to be named All-American, as well as the first All-Crossroads League performer for the Trojans.
Pierce helped Taylor to its finest season yet, as TU posted the top-six scores in program history, climbed as high as No. 16 in the NAIA ratings and finished third at the CL Championships.
