Cheer Has Trio Named to CSC Academic All-District Team
UPLAND, Ind. – The Taylor University competitive cheer team hauled in three College Sports Communicators NAIA At-Large Academic All-District honors recently, with Annabel Boatwright, Emma-Kate Moore and J. Michael Pierce II all being recognized for their academic excellence.
Boatwright collected her first CSC Academic All-District selection with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.99 in elementary education.
Moore was named CSC Academic All-District for the first time in her career with a cumulative GPA of 3.94 in public relations.
Pierce II also collected the first CSC Academic All-District award of his time at Taylor with a 3.81 GPA in musical theatre.
The honors for Boatwright, Moore and Pierce II are the first such awards for the young TU competitive cheer program and boost Taylor's number of CSC Academic All-District selections for the 2022-2023 year to 48.
The CSC Academic All-District distinction is designed to recognize student-athletes for outstanding achievements in the classroom and on the field. To receive the honor, an athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher on a 4.0 scale, must have reached sophomore status academically with at least one full year at their current institution, and must have participated in over half of the team's competitions as a key contributor during the current season.
Each University is limited to five individuals for each of the men's and women's CSC NAIA At-Large Academic All-District Teams and student-athletes are nominated for the honor by their own Sports Information Department.
Boatwright, Moore and Pierce II will advance to the ballot for CSC Academic All-American honors, which will be voted on by members of the CSC before being announced on June 21 and 22.
