
TU Men Begin Fall Season with Players Club Invitational
YORKTOWN, Ind. – The 2023-2024 season got underway for No. 12 Taylor on Monday and Tuesday with 54 holes of competition at the Players Club Invitational. TU played well with a three-round total of 875 but finished fourth in the 16-team tournament.
The Trojans posted team scores of 292, 292 and 291 over the two-day event, and finished 14 shots off pace of first-place RV Marian's winning total of 861. Cornerstone (871) and RV Indiana Wesleyan (873) also finished just ahead of Taylor.
Adam Kasitz turned in TU's lone top-10 performance, while Will Schuitema, Austin Davis, Lance VanErmen and Kyle Kasitz gave the Trojans five competitors inside the top-25 in the field of 104.
All five Trojans shot three-straight rounds in the low-to-mid 70's, showcasing the squad's depth. Kasitz highlighted the group with scores of 71, 71, 72 for a 54-hole total of 214.
Schuitema followed in 17th with a third-round gem of 70 to end at 221, while Davis and VanErmen each shot sub-par rounds of 71 at the event and finished at 222.
Rounding out Taylor's top-five finishers was Kyle Kasitz at 223, after carding successive scores of 76, 74 and 73.
No. 12 Taylor (12-3) will resume its fall season on September 22 at the Delaware Country Club Shootout in Muncie, Indiana.
