
Taylor Men Take Sixth in Stacked Field at Memphis Shootout
MEMPHIS – The Taylor men's golf team played 54 holes of competition at the Memphis Shootout on Monday and Tuesday at TPC Southwind and came home with a sixth-place finish in the 15-team event. The field featured nine teams ranked or receiving votes in the NAIA Top-25 Poll.
TU started hot, shooting a 301 in the opening round to finish just two strokes off the lead heading into the middle 18 holes. The Trojans could not keep pace over the final two rounds however, shooting a 308 and 305 to slide to sixth.
Austin Davis carded the squad's best finish and lone top-20 showing, highlighting his tournament with a 72 in round two to finish in 19th.
Adam Kasitz and Will Schuitema followed in 24th, giving TU a trio of finishers inside the top-third of the 75-individual field. Schuitema fired the best round of the event for Taylor, shooting an opening round total of 71.
No. 12 Taylor (40-11) will resume play on October 16 and 17 at the Egypt Valley Championships.
