
Men’s Golf Kicks Off Spring Season
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The RV Taylor men's golf team opened its 2024 spring campaign on Monday with 36 holes at the William Carey Collegiate Classic.
The Trojans posted team scores of 291 and 297 to finish the first day of action in 10th place in the 14-team field which included nine teams ranked or receiving votes in the latest NAIA Top-25 Poll.
Will Schuitema was on top of his game in the opening round, firing a 67 to lead all players after the morning action. Schuitema followed with a 72 in the afternoon round, and finished the day in a tie for sixth place and just four strokes off pace of the lead.
Adam Kasitz, Austin Davis and Kyle Kasitz ended the day in 44th, 50th and 54th with scores in the mid-70's. Adam Kasitz led that trio with a 73 and 75, while Davis posted a 76 and 74, and Kyle Kasitz shot a 75 and 76.
RV Taylor will resume action on Tuesday, to conclude the Carey Classic.
