
Kasitz Tops Field for RV Taylor at Purgatory Intercollegiate
NOBLESVILLE, Ind. – Kyle Kasitz carded a round of 71 on Saturday to overtake the top spot on the individual leaderboard and ended the two-day Purgatory Intercollegiate in a three-way tie for first place to pace the RV Taylor men's golf team in its third-place finish at the 11-team event.
Kasitz opened with a 75 on Friday and got even better on Saturday over his final 18 holes, trimming four shots off that score to end atop the leaderboard with a 36-hole total of 146. Kasitz then won medalist honors after a two-hole playoff.
Will Schuitema and Austin Davis followed with top-20 showings, each firing rounds of 74 on Saturday to climb the ranks. Schuitema finished at 153 in 13th and Davis ended at 154 in 16th.
The hot play of those three over Saturday's round helped the Trojans jump from fifth to third, posting a 298 on Saturday for the top score of the day.
TU finished tops among all NAIA teams at the event with a team score of 608 and settled for a third place overall finish.
RV Taylor is set to return to play on April 8 and 9 at the Midway Invite in Lexington, Kentucky.
