Davis Paces Trojans on Day One of CL Championships
Crossroads League Championships Central
LACONIA, Ind. – Austin Davis fired a career-best round of 66 on Monday, leading RV Taylor to its lowest score of the season with a second-round tally of 283, but a red-hot Marian squad still opened a 32-shot lead over the Trojans after 36 holes at the 2024 Crossroads League Championships.
Taylor posted rounds of 294 and 283, with its round-two total marking its best of the year. Despite the solid play, TU could not keep pace with RV Marian, as the Knights took control of the tournament with rounds of 275 and 270.
The Trojans will enter Tuesday's final round seven strokes up on Indiana Wesleyan in second place at the nine-team event.
On the individual side, Davis led TU and finished in a tie for fourth, marking the only non-Marian individual inside the top-five. Davis opened with a round of 73, before posting his collegiate best round of 66 to surge up the leaderboard.
Following behind Davis was Tanner Conklin, who shot 72 and 71 to finish the opening day in ninth. Will Schuitema also closed the day inside the top-15 with scores of 74 and 73 to end in 12th.
RV Taylor will resume play on Tuesday with the third and final round of the Crossroads League Championships.
