
Trojans Finish in Second at Crossroads Championships

LACONIA, Ind. – The Taylor men's golf team posted a second-straight team score of under-par but could not dent the lead of Marian and finished in second place at the 2024 Crossroads League Championships.
TU shot a six-over score of 294 in Monday's first round but followed it up with the team's best score of the season with a five-under score of 283. The Trojans continued the strong play in Tuesday's round, firing a four-under score of 284 to finish the three-round event at three-under par.
Despite posting its two lowest scores of the 2023-2024 season, Taylor was outpaced by a remarkable performance from Marian, as the Knights outpaced TU by 33 shots and ended at 36-under par for the tournament.
Austin Davis held his spot on the individual leaderboard over Tuesday's 18 holes, earning Crossroads League All-Tournament honors by shooting a final round of 72 to finish at five-under and in fourth place.
Will Schuitema moved up the standings throughout Tuesday's action by posting a career-best score of 66 to finish in seventh place at three-under for the two-day event.
TU's other top finishes came from Tanner Conklin and Kyle Kasitz, with Conklin ending in 12th at two-over and Kasitz taking 14th at four-over.
The Trojans will now wait to learn if they will earn an invite to compete at the NAIA National Championships as a team or individually. Nationals will be held at Dalton Golf and Country Club in Dalton, Georgia on May 21 through May 24.
