
Taylor Takes Egypt Valley Intercollegiate for Second Fall Title
ADA, Mich. – The Taylor men's golf team overcame a first-round deficit, improving its scores in the second and third round to secure the team title at the Egypt Valley Intercollegiate. The team win marks TU's second in four events this fall.
The RV Trojans quickly erased a four-shot deficit to Bethel after the first round by posting a 307 over the final 18 holes of Monday's action. TU then extended its lead by again posting the best team score of the third and final round with a 306. The end result showed Taylor with a seven-stroke edge over BU and a 23-shot gap over Cornerstone in the top-three.
Will Schuitema led the way for Taylor with a fourth-place finish on the individual leaderboard. Schuitema fired a round-two score of 72 to punctuate a 54-hole total of 231 which placed him just five shots off the lead.
Matthew Albright finished strong with scores of 76 and 75 over his final 36 to move into a tie for sixth, with Kyle Kasitz ending in eighth. Tanner Conklin also showed well in 11th, surging over the final round with a score of 73.
RV Taylor will close its fall season at the Whistling Straits Classic in Sheboygan, Wisconsin on October 14 and 15.
