
Lim Ties for Medalist Honors as No. 13 TU Takes Second Place
YORKTOWN, Ind. – Shayne Lim picked up where she left off as the Crossroads League Player of the Year, opening her second season with the Trojans by tying for first at the season-opening Players Club Invitational.
The Trojans opened the two-day event in third place in the 10-team field after Friday's first round, but fired a 305 on Saturday to surge past No. 10 Indiana Wesleyan and into second place. TU gained 10 shots on No. 23 Northwestern Ohio with the strong final round but finished one stroke off pace for the top spot.
Lim and Margarita Garrido led the Saturday charge, each carding a 72 over the final 18 holes. Alyssa Schmidt and Ellie Karst also played well, giving Taylor four players with sub-80 scores on Saturday, as Schmidt shot a 76 and Karst posted a 79.
Lim ended the two-day tournament at 153 and in a tie for medalist honors, but lost the playoff on the second hole. Karst and Schmidt also excelled in the season-opening event, posting marks of 156 and 159.
Taylor's 305 on Saturday was the best in the field and the second-lowest single-round total from the weekend. The Trojans (619) ended up one stroke back of No. 23 UNOH (618) for the 36 holes and topped No. 10 IWU (622) and No. 9 Milligan (656).
No. 13 Taylor (8-1) will get right back to action on September 4 and 5 at the Huntington Invitational in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
