
Lim Takes Third to Lead No. 20 at Dalton State Invitational
COHUTTA, Ga. – The No. 20 Taylor women's golf team had its third and final round of the Dalton State Roadrunner Invitational rained out on Tuesday, locking the field into the final standings from Monday's first 36 holes.
Taylor ended the rain-shortened event in a three-way tie for sixth in the loaded 10-team field that included nine Top-25 programs from around the NAIA.
The Trojans performed well, opening Monday's action with a 305 for the team's best single-round score of the spring and second-best total of the season. TU followed the opening round with a 318 to finish at 623 and in a tie with No. 16 Indiana Wesleyan and No. 17 Lindsey Wilson for sixth.
Shayne Lim paced the squad by shooting a 72 and 73 to end in third place on the individual leaderboard. Lim's two-round total of 145 matched her best 36-hole score of the season and saw her turn in Taylor's top score for the sixth time this season. In addition, the third-place finish was Lim's third-straight top-three effort and her sixth top-five finish this season.
Margarita Garrido, Alyssa Schmidt and Ellie Beavins followed Lim in 28th, 35th and 37th. All three shot sub-80 rounds to open play on Monday, with Garrido shooting a 76, Beavins carding a 78 and Schmidt posting a 79.
No. 20 Taylor will continue its season on Monday, March 15 when it hosts the Ackerman-Allen Shootout in West Lafayette.
