
Trojans Finish in Fourth on Day One of National Championships
SILVIS, Ill. – The No. 19 Taylor women's golf team turned in the fourth-best round of the opening day of the 2024 NAIA National Championships, carding a score of 314 to finish just nine shots off the lead.
The Trojans ended the first day at 26-over par, trailing British Columbia by nine strokes for the top spot. TU landed 12 strokes in front of the potential cut line, with William Carey shooting a 38-over par to sit on the line in 17th.
The play of Shayne Lim and Margarita Garrido highlighted the day for Taylor, as the sophomore duo ended tied for 16th on the individual leaderboard. Lim and Garrido shot rounds of 77 to finish at five-over par and just three shots off the lead.
Elizabeth Kemper joined Lim and Garrido inside the top-40 by shooting a 79 to finish Tuesday's action in 30th, while Ellie Beavins recorded TU's final countable score with an 81.
TU will continue play on Wednesday with a round beginning at 9:40 am (ET) on the course at TPC Deere Run.
