Taylor Women’s Soccer Still on Verge of Top-25
NAIA Women's Soccer Top-25 Coaches Poll
UPLAND, Ind. – The RV Taylor women's soccer team (8-2-4, 3-1-2 CL) remained in the 26th spot for the third straight NAIA Top-25 Coaches' Poll. TU has retained its status as RV in every poll, including preseason, in 2023.
The Trojans are coming off a week in which it played two home games, beginning with a 3-0 shutout over Huntington on Oct. 11 and ending with a 1-0 defeat to No. 9 Indiana Wesleyan on Oct. 14. Taylor outshot its opponents, as per usual this season, in both matches, highlighted by its 47-shot (15 on goal) performance in the 3-0 victory. TU now ranks third in the nation in shots per game with 24.9.
Leading the way in the goal-scoring department for Taylor are forwards Chloe Sena, Leah McQuade and Audrey Grimm with eight, six and five goals to their names, respectively. McQuade's six goals have all occurred in the latter half of the season for the freshman.
It is not just the offense, which has put up 2.5 goals per match in 2023, that has consistently led the Trojans to strong efforts, however. As demonstrated again over the past two CL matchups, TU has allowed just 10 goals through 14 matches, good for a 0.71 GAA which ranks 21st in the NAIA.
RV Taylor's toughest test of the season comes on Saturday when the Trojans travel to play the co-CL leader, No. 2 Spring Arbor (12-0-1, 5-0-1 CL) at 7 p.m.
