WINONA LAKE, Ind. – Taylor fell, 2-1, in a tight match against RV Grace (9-0-1, 1-0-1 CL) on the road on Saturday night in Crossroads League action.
The Trojans struck first, converting after a corner kick with Libby Thomas putting the ball in the back of the net after Brooke Cimini saw her initial shot saved by the Grace goalkeeper. The goal for the junior defender was her first of the season.
The lead was short-lived as Grace scored less than six minutes later to level the match at one. Neither squad could break the deadlock before halftime arrived.
Quickly after the break, the Lancers took the lead with a goal less than seven minutes after the restart.
Taylor tried to find an equalizer, but several outstanding saves from the Grace goalie denied the game to be level at two.
Despite trailing the Lancers in total shots, the Trojans were accurate, having nine of their 11 shots on target and taking nine corners compared to seven for Grace.
Taylor (4-3-2, 1-1-0 CL) returns to Turner Stadium for a Crossroads League matchup against No. 10 Marian (8-1-2, 1-0-1 CL) on Wednesday, October 2, with kick-off scheduled for 7:00 pm.
