Taylor Honors Seven Seniors During 1-1 Draw Against Bethel
UPLAND, Ind. – A Senior Night match ended in a 1-1 draw on Saturday night against Bethel (6-4-6, 0-3-5 CL) after a first-half goal from Eliza Luttrell was matched with a goal from the Pilots in the second half.
RV Taylor honored a remarkable seven seniors on the pitch at halftime: Lauren Collins, Sarah Mullins, Emma Carrell, Audrey Grimm, Rachel Landis, Moriah Dunham, and Sydney Thompson, all of which started at least one match this season.
The Trojans started the game with five seniors on the pitch and were on the front foot, placing the ball in the back of the net early, only for the refs to call it back for the ball being out of play earlier in the buildup.
Taylor did not waste time scoring, as Kiana Siefert made a run along the wing and came into the box before finding Luttrell, who turned it home for the 1-0 lead in the 37th minute.
After halftime, Bethel began to gain some momentum and work the ball into attacking positions, but the TU defense and Brianna Rawlings kept them ahead until a long looping pass from the wing fell and bounced to the feet of a Pilot attacker who fired it into the back of the net for the equalizer.
Each team looked for the game-winner, with the Trojans having more chances and firing 18 shots, twice as many as the visitors.
Siefert fired the final shot just high as time expired shortly after, with the squads sharing the points.
Taylor (7-5-3, 4-3-1 CL) completes its regular season schedule on Wednesday, October 30th, against Goshen (1-10-5, 0-5-3 CL) on the road, with kick-off set for 7:00 pm.
