JACKSON, Mich. – Brianna Rawlings was honored as the women's soccer Crossroads League Defensive Player-of-the-Week on Monday afternoon after leading the Trojans to a pair of victories.
Rawlings began the match week with an outstanding performance in Taylor's 1-0 upset over No. 10 Marian (9-2-2, 2-1-1 CL). The junior goalkeeper produced eight saves and did not allow a goal in the shutout win. Rawlings made a number of spectacular saves throughout the match which required precise timing, positioning and execution.
The Las Vegas, Nevada native then kept Mount Vernon Nazarene (5-4-2, 0-2-2 CL) at bay in a 4-1 win, grabbing three saves and only allowing a goal on a penalty kick for the visitors. Rawlings has been fantastic in between the posts in her first year as the starter, sitting second in the Crossroads League with 47 saves to go with an impressive .770 save percentage.
Rawling's honor is the second women's soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week award for the Trojans this season, and it marks the Trojans' 13th athlete-of-the-week award in the 2024-2025 year across all sports.
Taylor (6-3-2, 3-1-0 CL) continues Crossroads League action on Saturday, October 12th, with a road contest against Huntington (5-3-4, 0-2-2 CL) kicking off at 1:30 pm.
