Taylor Concludes Season with Quarterfinals Loss at No. 5 IWU
MARION, Ind. – The Taylor volleyball team (11-20) concluded its season Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 (19-25, 12-25, 16-25) loss at No. 5 Indiana Wesleyan (29-2) in a Crossroads League Quarterfinals match.
Eighth-seeded Taylor got out to a fast start as it looked to become the first Crossroads League opponent to defeat IWU on the season.
The Trojans were in sync early as they led 8-5 with multiple attackers getting involved. Though TU later trailed, Grace Ieremia brought the first-set deficit to a single point at 18-17 with her third kill.
The top-seeded Wildcats closed the frame with a flurry of points, however, and the hosts carried that momentum into a lopsided second set.
Gracie Conway and Daya Vestal helped keep things interesting after a tough start to the third frame for Taylor, but the visitors' efforts fell short.
Conway tallied nine kills to lead TU's attack that was set up by 32 assists from Lindsay Springer.
Defensively, McKaylah Flagle and Chloe Holtz recorded 14 and 10 digs, respectively.
Taylor graduates seven seniors who have helped the program to a four-year record of 84-53, which includes a 2022 CL Tournament Championship and NAIA Opening Round victory. Among that group are three of the four leaders in kills for the Trojans this season, Ieremia, Jaylynn Dunsmore and Conway, and two of the team's four leaders in digs, Jen Springer and Holtz.
