Trojans Fall in Crossroads League Opener
UPLAND, Ind. – Taylor (3-3, 0-1 CL) fell in its Crossroads League opener against No. 6 Marian (6-0, 1-0 CL), 87-67, on Saturday afternoon.
Jackson Ullom had his best day in a Trojan uniform, knocking down two from beyond the arc alongside a perfect 5-5 showing at the charity stripe for a career-high 11 points. Ullom added a career-best five assists in his impressive performance.
Jason Hubbard continued to climb the TU scoring charts on Saturday, moving up to seventh place all-time with 1,902 total points. The senior now sits just three points away from David Wayne in sixth place, after scoring 21 points in Saturdays contest.
Taylor kept the game close for the first ten minutes, trailing 20-15 after three buckets from behind the arc fell for TU.
Marian quickly blew the game open thereafter, opening a 21-point lead after a 21-5 run sparked by shooting 7-10 during the stretch.
Each offense came out firing after the break, scoring on seven of eight total possessions, which extended the Knights' lead to 24.
An Anton Webb dunk ignited a Trojans' comeback bid. Hubbard then connected on three straight threes before Ullom scored seven-straight points for TU to get them within nine.
Taylor could not get any closer, as Marian eventually stretched the lead to 87-67 at the final horn.
Taylor continues Crossroads League action on the hardwood Tuesday, November 22, back inside Odle Arena against No. 14 Indiana Wesleyan (4-2, 1-0 CL), with tip-off scheduled for 7:00 pm.
