Women's Basketball Storms Past Sterling
The Taylor women's basketball team continued its torrid start to the 2012-13 campaign with an 82-41 victory over Sterling College at the Sterling Classic this evening.
The Trojans (4-0) used some hot shooting to overpower the Sterling as Taylor shot 52.5 percent (31-59) from the floor while holding the Warriors to just 28.3 percent (15-53) from the field.
Erin Guarneri led the Trojan effort with a game-high 29 points and eight rebounds. Fellow senior forward Erika Redweik added 12 points and four boards in the balanced Taylor effort.
"Tonight was a good team effort for us," Taylor coach Tena Krause said. "We played well and really moved the ball well to get open looks and we were able to get everyone in the game."
Junior point guard Ashley Fouch orchestrated the Taylor offensive attack with five assists while adding four points. Forward Shayna Wood also put together a solid line with five assists and eight rebounds to go along with two points. Taylor also got eight points from freshman Jackie Osenbaugh.
The Trojans racked up 19 assists on 31 field goals while forcing Sterling into 19 turnovers.
The Trojans are back in action again tomorrow as the Trojans face Tabor in the final day of the Sterling Classic. Game time is set for 3:00 pm (ET).
