Offense Hard to Come by at No. 23 Indiana Tech
FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Ava Henson netted a game-high 23 points Monday night in a 66-50 loss for Taylor (5-9, 0-4 CL) at 23rd-ranked Indiana Tech (10-4, 5-1 WHAC). The road defeat marked TU's final nonconference matchup in 2024-2025, against such squads it finished at an even 5-5 record.
A defensive struggle worked to the Trojans' advantage early on as Henson and Quinn Kelly shared the rock and shouldered the scoring load through the opening 13:35 of game time, helping the visitors to a 21-19 lead.
Turnovers limited TU to just 10 field-goal attempts in the second quarter, though, while the Warriors started to figure out the zone-defense look from the Purple and Grey to take control at the half, 32-25.
Emma Fohl and Kendall Wayne earned trips to the foul line near the start of the third frame to keep Taylor within seven points with 16 minutes to play, but the offense continued to sputter outside of Henson and Kelly as Indiana Tech pulled away.
Henson made four triples in the contest to help the senior notch her fifth 20-point game of the season. She also led TU's defensive effort with a game-high three steals.
Kelly showcased her shooting stroke throughout the night with 11 points while adding six rebounds and a team-high four assists.
Fohl cashed in on both of her three-point attempts to chip in nine points.
Taylor resumes Crossroads League action in the New Year when it travels to play Spring Arbor (9-5, 2-2 CL) on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025, at 3 p.m.
