ST. LOUIS. – Playing the first of back-to-back contests at Missouri Baptist, Taylor faded late in an 18-8 defeat to No. 6 William Penn in a neutral field affair.
The Trojans hung around through much of the first half, closing the first period with goals from Jackson Dale and Will Vanderkodde to draw within 5-3 and then getting back-to-back strikes from Will Saxby and Reid Gerig to narrow the gap to 7-5 midway through the second.
The sixth-ranked WPU (5-1) squad was too much however, eventually out-shooting Taylor by a 67-36 gap and pulling away for the 10-goal spread.
Saxby and Wyatt Marshall paced the Trojans with two goals each, with Aidan Craig chipping in three more assists. Saxby also added two caused turnovers and Carter Prieditis led the squad with four ground balls.
Taylor (0-4) will return to action on Saturday against Missouri Baptist (0-5) in a 7:00 pm (ET) start.
