ADRIAN, Mich. – In hunt of securing a crucial road win in WHAC play, RV Taylor showcased a stingy defense over the first 30 minutes but could not keep No. 10 Siena Heights at bay for the full 60 and came home with a 13-8 defeat.
Taylor fired off 53 shots in the loss compared to just 31 from the hosts but put only 26 of those attempts on target, while SHU put 20 on frame and controlled possession with 18-of-25 faceoff wins.
TU outshot the Saints by a 33-13 gap over the first two periods of play but could not capitalize and only held a 4-2 lead at the break.
Siena Heights (4-6, 1-2 WHAC) finally cracked the Taylor defense after the intermission, outscoring TU by an 11-4 mark over the final 30 minutes to secure the win.
Jackson Dale led TU in scoring with three goals, with Carter Prieditis and Reid Gerig each netted two scores. Aidan Craig continued his march toward WHAC history with five more assists, moving to within two helpers of tying and three of breaking the league's all-time assist record of 175.
Craig will have an opportunity to make history on Saturday, when RV Taylor (4-7, 1-3 WHAC) hosts No. 7 Aquinas (6-1, 2-1 WHAC) at Wheeler Field for Senior Day at 1:00 pm.
