
Late Flurry Sends Lacrosse to Victory Over Columbia
WESTFIELD, Ind. – Taylor scored the final three goals in a game that featured nine lead changes and eight ties to come away with a thrilling, 14-11, neutral field win over Columbia at Grand Park on Thursday afternoon.
Taylor and Columbia (0-1) traded scores throughout the contest, with the game featuring ties at 1-1, 3-3, 4-4, 5-5, 7-7, 8-8, 9-9 and 11-11 and no lead growing past two goals until the last TU tally of the day pushed the final margin to three.
TU led or held a share of the lead throughout the bulk of the match however, facing its final deficit at 8-7 with 4:22 left in the third. After seeing leads of 9-8 and 11-9 slip away, Taylor scored the final three goals of the contest over the closing minutes to take the victory.
Henry Cooper helped seal the outcome with back-to-back goals at the 8:08 and 2:30 mark of the fourth, before Jack Kaiser delivered the final blow by finding the net with 1:05 remaining.
Jackson Dale, Will Saxby and Cooper led the way with three goals each, with Dale adding three assists. Kaiser and Will Vanderkodde each ended with two goals and Ben Harrell picked up 10 saves. Also helping on the defensive end were Xander Bateman and Casey Bane with two caused turnovers each and David Celesti with four ground balls.
Taylor (2-1) will host Saint Ambrose (0-3) on Saturday for TU's home opener. Start time is slated for 1:00 pm at Wheeler Field.
