Crossroads League Women's Basketball Preseason Poll | TU Honors Page
JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League released its preseason all-league teams on Wednesday, Oct. 11, in which Taylor Westgate was selected as first-team, and Claycee West was named to the second team. The honorees are voted on by CL head coaches. 10 players are selected to each of the two teams.
Westgate earned the first-team nod following First-Team All-Crossroads League honors she garnered at the conclusion of the 2022-23 season. The senior averaged 15.5 points, 8.8 rebounds and 0.8 blocks per game last season. She also exceeded the 1,000-career point mark while leading the Trojans in scoring for the second consecutive season.
West's preseason all-second team selection comes on the heels of being named Second-Team All-Crossroads League in 2022-23. West finished the season second in the league in assists with 4.2 per contest, and she also contributed 11.0 points per game, which tied with classmate Ava Henson for second most on the team. Defensively, West led the Trojans in steals with 1.6 per game.
The senior trio of Westgate, West and Henson figure to lead the Trojans again in the 2023-24 campaign under first-year head coach Cassie Wiseman. Taylor begins its season at home with a 5 p.m. tipoff against Michigan-Dearborn on Oct. 26.
