UPLAND, Ind. – Forward Taylor Westgate of the TU women's basketball team was named Crossroads League Player of the Week from Jan. 15-21 for her two monster double-doubles in leading the Trojans to a 2-0 week in league play. The award represents the second such achievement for Westgate in the 2023-24 season and the third overall in her career.
In Wednesday, Jan. 17's home victory over Huntington, Westgate produced 18 points and a single-game program-record-tying 25 rebounds, 10 of which came on the offensive glass. The senior backed up that incredible performance with another dominant stat line of 15 points and 15 rebounds in Saturday's win at Bethel, in which Westgate notched her 30th career double-double.
Westgate's performances came on efficient 13-for-27 shooting from the field. She also made seven of her nine free-throws, including going a perfect six-for-six against Huntington.
Defensively, Westgate was also a force to be reckoned with in the post with four blocked shots and three steals across the two games.
On the season, the all-league forward is now averaging a double-double with 13.9 points and 10.1 rebounds per game to go along with 2.0 assists and 1.0 blocks per contest.
TU (9-10, 4-5 CL) is off until Saturday, Jan. 27, when it travels to play Saint Francis (10-8, 3-6) to tip off the second half of the CL schedule.
