
Trojans Edge HU for Fourth League Win
HUNTINGTON, Ind. – The Taylor Trojans outlasted the Foresters on Tuesday night and came away with their fourth league win of the season. Taylor (5-3, 4-2) is now winners of two straight and sit in a tie with HU (6-2, 4-2) in the league standings.
On Tuesday, it was TU's Julianna Hotmire who secured the match with a win in the No. 6 singles slot in a closely contested three-set match.
Taylor picked up a pair of wins in doubles with Courtney Clark and Taelor Grose winning in the No. 2 doubles slot and Julianna Hotmire and Corinne Hoffman taking the No. 3 doubles battle. In singles, TU picked up two of the first five matches while the remaining three went to the Foresters. The match ultimately came down to the play of Hotmire in the No. 6 singles match. Hotmire took the opening set 6-4 but fell 5-7 in set two. In the clutch, Hotmire delivered a 6-2 final decision to secure the win for not only herself but also for the team overall.
Along with Hotmire, Molly Fletchall and Alexa Kling were both winners in singles play.
"We had a very tough match against a good Huntington team tonight," commented Coach Jon Wegener, "I'm very proud of our team. Everyone contributed to this win and has been working hard all season. We get to turn around and play Saint Francis tomorrow. We're looking forward to another good match!"
